- whether or not you own pets
- housing fee you can afford, and more.
It's best to start housing-hunting very early, because good options are taken of very fast. If you can, visit Ithaca at least 4-5 month before your program starts to explore housing options. If you are able to, plan a house or apartment- hunting trip in the spring. Take some time beforehand and explore Ithaca and the surrounding areas. There are two categories of housing: on and off campus.
On-campus housing
On-campus housing is maintained by Cornell University. These housing facilities are within a short walking distance from central campus. It's price on average may be a little higher than off-campus. Single graduate students live in Maplewood Apartments and Schuyler House. Domestic groups live in Maplewood Apartments and Hasbrouck Apartments. Off-campus housing
This is a very broad category of different kinds of privately owned housing. You may start searching through the Off campus housing listing service, which will give you an idea of the rentals available in Ithaca.
